Gareth Homewood of Driver Wood contacted us as he needed help with slow performance of their current WordPress website and wanted to discuss a website refresh. The brief was to create a modern looking website that stood out in the market, it needed to clearly showcase the activities on offer while making it easy to navigate and understand each activity. Driver Wood also wanted to consolidate their events into one platform and simplify there activity and event booking process, including an improved check-in process.
We spent time understanding Driver Wood business, typical customers and their market. We created clarity around the typical people who use the website and make bookings. We also went into detail around their future business plans to get an idea of where they were going and ensure anything we created today would scale for the future.
We created a fully optimised WordPress website with templated pages for activities to ensure that activities with more than one option could be easily displayed on a similar styled page to those where only one activity option existed. We carefully considered how to show to new users what each event consists of and get a feel for it quickly and easily, so we created page galleries for specific activities, this ensures visitors can see images of the activity without having to navigate to separate gallery pages.
We updated the content on pages, creating new more playful icons for each activity on the homepage. This made it easy for people to visually jump to activities without using the menu system, our research showed the demographic of typical visitors were either parents or grandparents and so we needed to make it easy to discover and understand the suitability of each activity. So we added a Pain and Age indicator animation to each activity to ensure these key elements were clear and visually impactful.
We created a comparison page making it easy to see the differences in pain, cost and age of every available activity. We also created a Corporate and Birthday Event Pack as free downloads that created a value add for customers and make it even easier for them to plan there events. This also positioned Driver Wood as a highly experienced events organiser compared to the competition.
